One piece of work will be required in the form of an essay. You are required to propose an innovative and practical idea that would improve the lives of low- income people of a country of your choice. The essay should be based around the following key areas: (i) The innovative nature of your proposal (ii) Ease and practicality of implementation (iii) Size of impact The purpose of this part of your assessment is to help you to identify and analyse development issues in your chosen country, to identify sectors where improvements are possible, to undertake research in order to review the literature on the idea and your chosen country, to examine relevant databases, to examine the chosen country''s development policies, and to develop skills in presenting a clear and cogent argument in writing. Your essay should not exceed 2500 words (excluding bibliography). Apart from official (national and international) websites, databases, and e-journals, your bibliography must not contain more than FIVE website references.
