Some are full-time and some are part-time employees. They are all approaching retirement age, having been with the club for a minimum of 25 years. Two have been in poor health and none of them will be under retirement age in 3 years’ time. The Club faces complete replacement of the group in the short to medium term. It has been suggested that it would be more cost-efficient to reduce headcount, not just in relation to wages costs but also in relation to on-costs – National Insurance and pension payments. The Management Team is looking at a proposal to give the work to a contractor instead, making the 24 employees redundant.
