The negative effect of social networking through computers is becoming anti-social and also the development of low self-esteem. 1. A parent may have to enroll the teenager into some social program that requires person to person interactions with other teenagers. 2. The teenager should be made to feel good about their self-worth by the parents has more personal involvement in their lives. III. When using social networking with computers, safety for teens can be accomplished. A. Due to cyber bullying and identity theft, teens can protect themselves. 1. The teen can take classes to learn how to manage their personal information. 2. There are learning sites that shows the teen how to safeguard their computer from the many spammers and hackers on the internet. B. Teens can make their online network safer just by learning more about using the internet. Conclusion It is very important in these days and times that we, as parents educate ourselves in order to better protect and teach our children about the concerns of social networking using computers. With the internet being a part of all of our everyday lives, we must be active in making sure that our teens are still experiencing life outside in the real world as opposed to staying on the computer and having a simulated experience of real life.
