Wind power 1. 2000 words 2. Report Style Academic writing is an art which you will need to start learning. There are three main sections required:- a) Introduction b) The main development c) Summary, future prospects and conclusions If you look at any text book, you will see these features. 2.1 Introduction You need to introduce your topic area. This will probably involve some history of where the subject came from, how it was discovered. You also have to “set the scene” for the reader so they know what to expect Don’t spend more than around 400 words on this section. 2.2 Main development Now develop the story into how it’s used at the moment. What were the milestones? Has it evolved? Have there been any problems? About 1200 words here 2.3 Summary, future prospects and conclusions This section is there to wrap it all up. You may want to go into how it will develop in the future. Give at least a couple of scenarios of where it could go, depending upon what decisions are made. You may want to state what you think the main areas are and what the future could hold. About 400 words here. 3. Pictures Use pictures to illustrate your answer (remembering to reference where they came from). 4. Interest A report is likely to gain more marks if it’s interesting to read! Multiple spelling mistakes, poor English and the use of my time to re-write your report will not attract high marks. Have someone else read it before you submit it!
