Introduction This assessment is an individual piece of work allowing you to investigate a specific research area that is related to field-based projects that you will undertake during this unit. This will assist you directly with research design for a group project that you undertake as part of the residential fieldcourse in Cornwall – 20-25th April 2009. This assignment will also provide you with skills required to underpin the development of your final year project, both during this year and next year. Instructions Heritage tourism is my choosen topic 1. Identify key and preferably up-to-date texts (Journal articles, text books, reports, other documents) that outline the current state of academic knowledge in the specific research area 2. Identify specific relevant case studies that have been investigated in the literature, critically evaluating context / theories & arguments / methods / techniques used by the author/s 3. Highlight areas / topics identified in the literature and/or by you as gaps in existing knowledge • Use primarily library, but also other sources of geographical information • Please indicate your word count.
