Each team member will produce a section of the paper, contribute 5-7 pages (formatted in MLA style) and document at least five different sources. Each section should be distinct but be a component part of the paper as a whole. The sections should be placed in proper order in a binder. Each student will receive a separate grade on his or her section of the paper. General reference works such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, howstuffworks.com, wikipedia.org and the like will not be considered as sources satisfying this requirement. The paper must use parenthetical citations in the body of the paper: e.g. (Hawking 218-220). All cited sources should be listed in a standard format (MLA) at the end of each section of the paper. All consulted sources, including sources used for both data and graphics and unused or unacceptable sources, should be listed in a separate works consulted page at the end of the paper. (This is to demonstrate that you can choose wisely among many sources, and not just pick the top five). Research sources or references must reflect a wide range of sources (even competing or conflicting sources) and 50% must be from books. Whenever possible, primary research, such as interviews with experts, surveys, and actual experiments, should be used. The paper should demonstrate sound college senior-level research and editing skills and must be virtually error free. Outstanding graphics matching the content are also important. The group research paper is worth a total of 200 points.
