This is an I-Search paper, which makes it a bit more difficult (since it is supposed to be somewhat personal). The four points that are supposed to be addressed in the paper are: What I already know about my topic / Why I am writing this paper, the search process, and what I learned. For the reason that I am interested in this topic: my sister was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 1998, and it has affected her daily life a lot. I didn''t really think about her having it very much until I started to develop similar symptoms earlier this year. When I went to my doctor to talk about muscle soreness and chronic fatigue, she referred me to a rheumatologist, who thought that I also have fibromyalgia. However, it didn''t seem to be a very definitive diagnosis, and I heard that it''s frequently difficult to diagnose and not taken seriously by a lot of people. My goal is to learn more about the condition, how frequently it is diagnosed, and what treatments people try (my rheumatologist recommended pilates and prescribed medication). The paper is supposed to have at least six references, including at least one scholarly. The other potential sources include: a book, magazine, journal, or newspaper article. No more than one internet source. I was also supposed to interview someone (asking them a few questions about the subject) and include it in the paper. You could include excerpts from an interview with a doctor/rheumatologist that you found online, as long as it is not easily found in a search engine or elsewhere. I don''t think that it''s really going to be checked. The paper is supposed to be five pages, in MLA format, with a works cited page.
