Despite the fact that my husband and I tried to do the best for our kids, we did something wrong, but we never noticed until that morning when I found my daughter on the floor. I couldn’t believe what I had seen, I started yelling, and I woke up my husband; he dialed 911, and a few minutes later the ambulance arrived. My daughter was hospitalized at Mount Diablo Hospital, and a few hours later the doctor gave a diagnostic. The doctor said, “Your daughter is suffering one of the most common teenage diseases; she has anorexia nervosa, and now she is in coma”. I was in shock when I heard that, and I passed out. After a few minutes, I woke up, and I saw a nurse walking into the room. She asked me, “Are you O.K.? Mrs. Martinez”. I said, “Yes I am O.K”; she had some papers in her hands, and she said, “In these papers you can find more information about Anorexia Nervosa; this way you will better understand this disease”. I remember that I read those papers several times, but that wasn’t enough; in addition, I looked for more information in the internet. When I did that, my hopes dropped even lower than before. One night I was beside my daughter’s bed at the hospital when I saw that she moved her hand. “Oh My God”, I exclaimed, and I called the nurse immediately. Many nurses and doctors came to the room to check her. But nothing happened, she did not react. Despite of that I called my husband, so he came to the hospital. We “slept” there waiting for good news, but she did not move against. She had been in coma for more than 38 days, and doctors did not have a logical explanation for that. My daughter passed away three days later. For many months our life was a chaos. My husband drops his job and he drank too much alcohol. I did not clean the house for many days, and I did not take care of my kids ( I had two more in that time). But after forth months I reacted, and I asked for psychological therapy for my whole family. Now my husband and I spend more time with our other three kids ( one more born).
