Purpose and significance of the research 250 words What we know What we need to know What this research will contribute: Potential benefits arising from the study 150 words What this research will contribute in a more detail: • what is important • how big an issue • how practice/understanding could change Research design 800 words Follow the research process, applied to this issue What research approach is appropriate Generalisability 200 words Given the potential findings, could they be scaled up: • to the wider ‘client’ group or service • to other ‘client’ groups or services? Goodness criteria and ethical considerations 250 words Establishing why this is the right research approach (and triangulation, etc) to make sure that the goodness criteria are met, whether using the quantitative or qualitative versions of the Goodness criteria. Discussion of the ethical issues considerations and how to be covered. Potential problems 150 words Issues about, for example: • Sample • Context – other external/internal factors • Logistics of doing the research in time-scale • Skills (of analysis) Analysis of data 200 words How this will be done – which will be dependent upon research design and approach.
