read this before you write. pls Proposal Choose an organization that holds some interest for your group. It can be any type of organization – government, non-profit, corporation, family-owned, entrepreneurial, service-based, manufacturing-based, etc. It may be an organization that one of you has worked for, that some of you have had involvement with, or that you have an interest in learning more about. Find as many sources of data about that organization as you can. These could include a website, advertising, blogs (both official and unofficial), direct observation, talking to employees, or your own experiences with the organization. Don’t be limited by this list, I’m sure there are more sources available. Select a minimum of one and a maximum of five macro OB topics (each chapter of the textbook that we cover represents one topic) with which to analyze the data. If you select one or two topics you’ll need to do quite in-depth analysis, if you select four or five topics your analysis will be broader. You may choose to look for data first, and choose your OB topics based on the data that you find. For example, you may find information about the organization’s structure and design which may lead you to choose organization structure as a topic. You could also, however, choose your topics first and specifically search for data that will offer insight into those topics. Prepare a report and a presentation that detail your findings. For each OB topic selected provide an overview of the topic itself. Use your textbook for an initial understanding of the topic, but also include other academic sources, such as textbooks, journal articles, or books. If you select fewer OB topics it is expected that the overview will be more in-depth than if you choose a number of OB topics, as you will need to know more about the topic in order to provide a full analysis of the data. Using your knowledge of the OB topic analyze the data you have found, explaining what the data tells us about the organization. Submit an outline of your proposed project including 1. the name of the organization to be studied and why it was chosen 2. sources of data (eg. website, advertising, employees) – include a brief description of what you have already found and where else you plan to look 3. the OB topics with which you will analyze the data (essentially the chapters of the textbook you will use) and why they were chosen (this could be as simple as you found those chapters particularly interesting, or the data that you have works well with those chapters) Prepare your proposal in paragraph format. It should be between 400 and 600 words in length.
