you report will include some brief description of the derivatives positions(e.g in swaps, options , futures, and forwards) of your chosen company your report may take the form of a general discussion of the use of derivatives or be a more detailed analysis of particular/specific activities or transaction your discussion may include your analysis of some of the following: a) the purposes of the activities e.g are they taken to manage specific risks? you should make clear how the derivatives are intended to achieve these objectives b) alternative strategy the company could have pursued to achieve similar aims using other derivatives or non derivative strategies c) how the use of derivatives has changed over time e.g. in nature and size of the activities undertaken, with some discussions on why these might have occured d) the monitoring and governance of the derivatives e) ex-poste outcomes. using current prices (e.g. exchange rates ,interest rate, commodity prices e.t.c. )you may comment on outcomes of activities f) you may compare the use of derivative by your chosen company with other companies, possibly in the same industry(not airline) the outcome of this project should assess 1) your appreciation of the nature, characteristics, and potential use of derivatives markets and products 2)your understanding of how usage of derivatives markets affects and is affected by the business strategies of the companies using them.
